In 1982 Jim Corya joined National Corporate Personnel (NCP) as a principal owner. NCP specialized in contingency executive searches and recruitment. Robert Barkhaus, Ph.D. left his position as Director of Counseling, Testing, and Placement Services at IPFW in 1985 to begin professional career counseling and outplacement services for NCP. A year later, Mr. Corya and Dr. Barkhaus became the principals as they established National Corporate Consultants (NCC) specializing in executive searches and National Career Consultants offering professional outplacement services.
In 1989 Advantage Services, Inc. (ASI) was established as an alternative to temporary employment agencies for the manufacturing and distribution industries. ASI was a pioneer in "On Site" staffing solutions and has expanded this concept to offer customers a complete line of outsourced HR services. A partial list of these services includes hiring assistance, forklift certification & training, hazcom/lockout-tagout programs, bloodborne pathogens training, interview training, employee handbooks, job descriptions, employment law compliance, and human resource process audits. The ASI custom designed staffing program still leads the field in unique solutions to a client's distinct workforce needs. Steve Frey joined ASI in 1990, bringing years of experience in executive search and human resources. He continued ASI's expansion by opening additional operations in Ohio, as well as Michigan and Indiana. Mr. Frey and Mr. Corya are principals of the firm.
Because of rapid growth, the Center for Human Resources' corporate headquarters was relocated to Stone Pointe Office Park on the north side of Fort Wayne in late 1996. Dan Howe joined NCC in 1997 and a new company, National Corporate Solutions, Inc. (NCS), was established. NCS specializes in human resource outsourcing and custom training & development programs for small businesses, school systems, and city municipalities.
The Center for Human Resources companies have offices in Troy, Ohio and Kendallville, Indiana, in addition to the corporate headquarters in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1999, the services provided by our family of companies generated over eight (8) million dollars in revenues.
